Kenya Exiles will be sending 2 teams for PAC sevens to be held at 2200 Mitchellville Road, Bowie, MD 20716 on June 23rd, 2007. We urge all fans to turn up in large numbers to cheer your team to victory

This tourney will be a true test for the current squads muscle as they will be going up against the true power houses of east coast rugby and not forgetting select sides from Fiji and New Zealand.

This tourney will also see the team add to their arsenal the service of fijian coach Niko Waqalavi to an already spectacular technical bench featuring Theo Bennett

Quote from coach Bennett" I think this team can go to Kenya next year and compete for the main cup trophy in safari sevens" - with their current roster, this is very possible.

All players interested in participating in any of the two teams, please send us an email at This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it

Go Exiles.

Battle Of Supremacy Summary

"What for?" Weku asked the referee as his try was called back for showboating after he displayed the ball with one hand to a helpless chaser for 22 meters as he made the try center postÂ….he was told that this is not IRB as he tried to explain he had seen Serevi do the exact same thing last year on the circuit. That was the scene as Kenya Gold closed yet another chapter over Memorial weekend at the inaugural Battle for Supremacy seven-a-side tournament.

Memorial weekend is said to be the official beginning of summer and for the exiles fraternity it also marked a milestone in hosting there first tournament. The Kenya Exiles fielded two teams;Gold and Black, and they aim is to get more regional Kenyan teams involved. The first round was played in a round robin format with each team facing every other team and from the results the teams were seeded with the top two teams playing each other for the cup and the second and third seeds playing for the open cup.

At the end of round Robin, Exiles Gold finished top and Exiles Black finished 3rd.This meant Kenya Exiles Gold would face Washington RFC for the main cup and Exiles Black would face Maryland Exiles for the plate final.

Plate Final

Kenya Black vs Maryland - kenya win 21-12

Main cup final

Kenya Gold vs Washington - kenya win 29-7

MVP honors went to Zeddy Akwanyi but we cannot fail to give accolades to winger Dan Weku who had little trouble finding the try line during the tournament.

All in all it was a good warm-up for the season and an encouraging sign for the future of the tournament. The next tournament will be PAC sevens also in the DC area. Competition is expected to be a lot stiffer so it remains to be seen if the boys will rise to the occasion.

Tournament photo's will be posted shortly.
